Skoda Octavia A5 hatchback — the second generation of the most popular model on Ukrainian roads. Over the past years, Skoda Octavia has repeatedly become the best-selling car in Ukraine. Was no exception and 2012, according to the results which the car again took first place in our market.

The debut of the second generation Skoda Octavia took place in 2004, and in 2008 the company introduced a restyled version, which received new headlights and bumpers, as well as a modernized interior. Despite the fact that the model created on the A5 platform turned out to be noticeably more expensive than the first generation, balanced characteristics and a wide range of power units again provided Skoda with market success.

Now in connection with the release of the third generation, Skoda Octavia A7, the company is selling off the remnants of the second generation.

At the moment, the range of engines for the car consists of a gasoline engine and two diesel engines. The power of the naturally aspirated 1.6-liter gasoline engine is 102 hp, and the peak torque is 148 Nm at 3,800 rpm. In tandem with this power plant, a five-speed “mechanics” or a six-speed torque converter automatic can work.

The return of turbocharged diesel engines with a volume of 1.9 and 2 liters is 105 and 140 hp. respectively. The maximum torque for a less powerful motor is achieved at 1,900 rpm and is 250 Nm, while for a more powerful one, at 1,750 Nm and is 320 Nm. The 1.9-liter diesel is only available with a manual five-speed, and the 2-liter is available with a six-speed “mechanics” or “robot” DSG dual clutch.

The robotic transmission, like most powertrains and components, Skoda borrowed from its sister concern Volkswagen Golf. A feature of the Octavia is its liftback body. On the one hand, outwardly, the model looks like ordinary sedans, and on the other hand, its trunk is practically in no way inferior to the cargo compartments of hatchbacks and is ready to fit not only travel bags, but also bulky items. In terms of trunk volume, the Skoda Octavia surpasses many station wagons. In its normal state, it is equal to 560 liters, and with the rear seats folded down, it can be increased to 1,420 liters.

The ground clearance of the Skoda Octavia is 164 mm. It is produced by the SKD method in Ukraine.
