Skoda Octavia is the third generation of a five-seater liftback, which has been the best-selling car for many years. It is noteworthy that the Czech model was loved not only in Eastern Europe, but also by practical Germans - in Germany, Octavia is also the leader in sales among imported cars. Since the appearance of the car in 1996, two generations of it have sold around the world with a total circulation of 3.7 million copies.

The world premiere of the new Skoda Octavia took place in December 2012 at a special event in the Czech city of Mlada Boleslav, where the company's main plant is located. This time, the brand's specialists tried to create not only the most balanced car in the class, but also the largest. The wheelbase of the five-door has grown by as much as 108 mm. In addition, compared to its predecessor, the liftback has become 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider. At the same time, the front overhang decreased by 29 mm, and the rear overhang increased by 11 mm. The front track has been widened by 8mm and the rear by 6mm.

Most importantly, the length of the cabin, the space for the knees of the rear riders and the volume of the trunk have increased - by 33 mm, 47 mm and 5 liters, respectively. Moreover, if earlier the Octavia with the rear seats folded down could hold 1435 liters of luggage, now this figure has increased to 1580 liters thanks to a more spacious interior.

The range of engines includes only turbocharged engines. The volume of gasoline power plants varies from 1.2 to 1.8 liters, and their power is from 105 to 180 hp. The output of a two-liter turbodiesel is 143 hp. Any of the motors can work with both manual boxes and robotic ones. True, automated DSG transmissions are offered only for cars in the middle and top configuration. Only “mechanics” is available for the initial version, and the range of engines is limited to 1.2- (105 hp) and 1.4-liter (140 hp) gasoline engines.

The design of the rear suspension depends on the power of the power plant: a multi-link is installed on the modification with a 180-horsepower unit, and a semi-dependent beam is installed on all the others.

For the market, the model is produced by the SKD method at the Eurocar plant in Transcarpathia. "Ukrainization" Skoda Octavia includes a reinforced suspension, as well as increased ground clearance to 155 mm.
