Skoda Superb - The official premiere of the third generation model (B8) took place in March 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show. The harbinger of the flagship of the Czech brand was the concept Vision C.
The new generation of Škoda Superb has not changed itself, not becoming a thoroughbred sedan, because the trunk lid opens like a liftback, along with the rear window, opening up access to the salon and a huge trunk, with a volume of 625 to 1760 liters (it used to be 565 liters or 60 l less). In the third generation, the multifunctional fifth door was removed, leaving a conventional trunk lid to make the car cheaper to manufacture. As before, the station wagon completes the model range. Superb Combi with a record volume in the class from 660 liters to 1950 liters.
The concept of Superb has changed significantly with the change of generations. The model is based on the MQB modular platform, and some of its elements are completely identical to similar parts. Volkswagen Passat B8, which was shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2014. The dimensions of the car have increased (width - by 47 mm, length - by 30 mm, wheelbase - by 80 mm, rear track - by 54 mm), while the weight, on the contrary, has decreased due to a lighter "cart".
As for the range of engines, it is quite wide. Cars assembled in Ukraine are equipped with 1.8 TSI (180 hp, 320 Nm), 2.0 TSI (220 hp, 350 Nm) and 2.0 TSI (280 hp, 350 Nm) petrol engines. The junior engine is available with both a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-speed robotic DSG. And Superbs with 220 and 280 hp engines. equipped with a 6-speed DSG. In addition, diesel modifications are available with a 2.0-liter TDI turbo engine (190 hp, 400 Nm), as well as a six-speed “mechanics” and a “robot” DSG.
The most powerful gasoline Škoda Superb is all-wheel drive by default, with a Haldex interaxal multi-plate clutch. Also, all-wheel drive can be selected for a diesel car, however, the gearbox, regardless of the engine, will be a 6-speed DSG.
The list of additional options includes: a Multi-Collision Brake system to prevent re-collisions, a parking assistant with a parking distance control system and a rear-view camera. The model is also available with an emergency stop system in case of danger of a frontal collision, a driver fatigue recognition function, an electronic tire pressure monitoring system and many others. The contactless opening function is available for the fifth electric door.
The flagship of the Czech brand is presented in four trim levels: Active, Ambition, Style and L&K. In the basic version, the car is equipped with air conditioning, an ESP system, a hill-hold control system (for cars with an “automatic”), as well as front and side airbags for the driver and passenger. In addition, front seats with mechanical height adjustments are installed in the car, there is a radio preparation for 8 speakers and a Front Assist radar system that scans the space in front of the car.
The SKD assembly of the Škoda Superb was organized at the Eurocar plant in the Transcarpathian region.
