Skoda Rapid - the presentation of the serial model took place at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012, and already at the beginning of 2013, the Eurocar company announced the start of production of Skoda Rapid at its plant in Transcarpathia. The start of sales is April 2013. In the lineup, it occupies a place between the hatchback Skoda Fabia and another liftback Skoda Octavia.

Although Skoda Rapid is built on the platform of the VW Polo sedan, it borrowed many suspension elements from other Czech models. Up front are McPherson struts with reinforced elements from Fabia, and at the back is a torsion beam from the first generation Octavia.

In addition, the Rapid turned out to be longer and wider than the Polo sedan - 4,483 and 1,706 mm versus 4,384 and 1,699 mm. Skoda has more and wheelbase - 2,602 versus 2,552 mm.

Due to the fact that the tailgate in the Rapid liftback opens with the glass, the car boasts a large cargo compartment, the volume of which in normal condition is 550 liters. With the rear seats folded down, it can be increased to 1,490 liters.

The highlight of the car are such interesting solutions applied by Czech developers as a snow scraper hidden in the gas tank hatch, a small pocket sewn into the side of the driver's seat, and a mobile phone stand in the center console. They are the basic equipment for all modifications. But the double-sided trunk mat (flecked on one side and rubber on the other) is offered only as an option.

The range of gasoline engines for the market consists of naturally aspirated engines of 1.2 (75 hp) and 1.6 liters (105 hp), as well as a turbocharged 1.2-liter unit with 105 hp.

In addition, a 1.6-liter diesel engine is also available for the Skoda Rapid, with a maximum power of 105 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm.

All engines are paired with mechanical gearboxes. "Robots" DSG dual clutch, appeared at the end of 2013.
