Skoda Rapid - a serial liftback was presented in September 2012 at the Paris Motor Show, and already at the beginning of 2013, the Eurocar company announced the start of assembling the model at its plant in the Transcarpathian region. In the model range takes place between the cars Skoda Fabia And Skoda Octavia. Despite the fact that "Rapid" is built on the same platform with Volkswagen Polo Sedan, many suspension elements are borrowed from other Skoda. Up front are McPherson struts with reinforced elements from Fabia, and at the back is a torsion beam from the first generation Octavia.
An updated version of the five-door Czech brand showed in February 2017. First of all, the new design of the headlights should be noted, which are now available with LED daytime running lights and bi-xenon lamps. In addition, rear lights with LED elements appeared in the list of additional options. The scale of changes in the cabin is comparable: a new three-spoke steering wheel and a modified climate control unit, which is installed on Rapid in medium and top trim levels.
Changes have also taken place in the range of Škoda Rapid engines. The four-cylinder 1.2 TSI petrol engine was replaced by a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI turbo engine. It is available in 95 hp (160 Nm) and 110 hp (200 Nm) versions. The initial version of the turbo engine is combined with a 5-speed "mechanics", and more productive - with a 6-speed one. An alternative to the liter unit is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder aspirated (110 hp, 155 Nm), which is available in tandem with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-band “automatic” with a torque converter.
The Škoda Rapid is equipped as standard with driver and passenger front airbags, front power windows, ABS and ESC with MSR (engine torque control), ASR (traction control), EDS (electronic differential lock) and HBA (braking assistant). The steering column is adjustable in height and reach, there is an ISOFIX mount for a child seat, radio preparation (4 speakers) and a 1 DIN radio is installed. In older equipment levels or for an extra charge, you can install a media system with a color display, side airbags, fog lights with cornering lights, climate control, rear power windows, cruise control and other equipment.
